Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists are trained specialists in the upper body, including arms, hands and upper back. The therapist works to make your daily activities as effective, pain-free and efficient as possible.
Occupational therapy may include manual therapy, strength and endurance exercises, work with weights and the Swiss ball, electrical stimulations, iontophoresis and other traditional therapeutic tools.
Bowen Technique
The Bowen Technique restores balance to your body and is an excellent therapy for wellness as well as rehabilitation. You lie fully clothed on a massage table while the therapist gently moves muscles and connective tissues. Between movements, the therapist pauses to allow the healing messages to penetrate deep into your body.
Bowenwork is generally scheduled once a week. Each session takes 30 to 45 minutes. Results are immediate (usually in two to five sessions) and long-lasting.
Ergonomics
Your workplace and home may aggravate an existing problem and lead to new problems. Abby LaRock is certified in advanced ergonomics for home and office.
She evaluates your daily environment for cost-effective and realistic changes that prevent re-injury and ease your pain. An ergonomic evaluation is especially important for back problems, carpal tunnel syndrome and repetitive sprains.

Which treatment will help me most? Will Abby consult with my primary physician?

Abby LaRock begins with a differential evaluation and then works with you to develop an individualized treatment program.
As needed, she consults with other health professionals. Her patients are often referred to her by their physicians for help with:

· asthma
· back injuries

· chronic pain

Patient Testimonial:
Calcium deposits were found in X-rays that were taken of my right arm. I was told by the orthopedic surgeon that I should try physical therapy first, cortisone shots second, and surgery third if the first two didn’t work. Knowing about Abby, I asked if I could be referred for occupational therapy instead. When they said yes, Abby scheduled a series of visits. She combined electrical stimulations with some Bowen work. She also gave me homework in the form of some ointments and some exercises. That was last year and I haven’t had any problems since. Abby did a fabulous job!
Also, if any folks out there use computers on a regular basis or have employees who do, have Abby hook you up with the Stretch Break program. I’ve been using it for over 2 years now and wouldn’t run my office without it.
